Russ Mills is the creator is Byroglyphics design, he uses a bic pen because it gives him more milage to express his marks and creates lines of texture, random marks and scribbles and then he scans them in and manipulates them in photoshop, this enables him to draw out the most spontanous possibilties in his work.

His admiration of Japanese pop culture his heavily influenced in his work as his work often has women with soft porclien skin that resemble Japanese women who are influenced by the Harajuku effect. He even makes links in the titles for his work such as 'Shinjuku Bionauts'. It's noted that he likes rock music which is reflected through his work as his work is often quite dark with elements of hallucination and distortation, his work is also very expressive which could relate to why he likes the Japanese Pop culture as they are expressive in their own means.
Pollock, Basquiat, Ian Francis, Conor Harrington and Duncan Jago all have a fluid fast way of working, but are very detailed and percise, there are heavy elements of mark makings and distortion, this reflects in Russ Mills work too. The two pieces of work above are Ian Francis and the one below is Russ Mills, you can see a link between the two, the fast lines, hazy distorted colouring, and disillustion in the imagery reflect the influences in the work.
He's also said to be influenced by historical icon Picasso. Picasso's work enloped into the abstact movement heavily, there are strong elements of this in Russ Mills work with work that has humans half morphed into cows and people with no heads at all.
